«Un movimiento artístico no reconocido: las dramaturgas republicanas de la Edad de Plata española»

Résumé

From 1900 to 1936, there was a cultural, social, and literary eruption, well known by the name of Edad de Plata. Places such as the Residencia de Estudiantes, the Ateneo, the Lyceum Club, etc. have gathered three generations of writers all around activities and magazines: The Generation of ’98, The Generation of ’14, and the one of ’27. Nevertheless, Azorín, Ortega, or Marías –among other theoreticians about the concept of Generation– did not take into account the presence of women in these three generations, what shows the weakness of the concept. While Carmen Baroja is considered as a woman of the Generation of ’98, and María Teresa León, Ernestina de Champourcin, and Concha Méndez claimed their association to the Generation of ’27, and María Zambrano to the one of ’14, there are other women that have actively participated in the literary and artistic development without being interested in any generation
