The aim of this chapter is to demonstrate that verbal language (sometimes in association with non-verbal language) may contain traces of the patient's perception of his or her own pathology or state of health. These linguistic traces are detectable in the morphology of words. We place our approach within the framework of embodied and enacted cognition (enaction, cf. Varela et al. 1991), which allows us to articulate the bodily dimension of cognition and the emergence of linguistic meaning. According to this postulate, the choice of the words themselves, the repetition of words containing these traces make it possible to indicate the patient's willingness to express a message which is sometimes unconscious, unstated (due to personal, societal, cultural, emotional constraints, etc.) or stated differently, in a complementary way. Our analysis is at the level of the submorphemes (see Tournier 1985; Philps 2002; Bottineau 2010, 2012a,b; Grégoire 2012 ; Bohas 2016), that is to say those minimal non-autonomous units of meaning such as, for example, the phonetic group [st] linked to the concept of "stability", and which is found in French in etymologically unrelated terms such as stoïque, stable, stop, insister, situer, rester, stèle, stationner, stocker, etc. (see Tournier 1985 ; Bottineau 2010). We postulate here that the use of embodied and enactive cognition as a way of taking charge of bodily elements allows us to apprehend the linguistic exchanges between patients/doctors or psychoanalysts because the subject of the conversation is precisely the state of the body. We will apply the proposed protocol to two cases of patients with multiple symptoms.
