Situationsdeixis‘ in der Geschichte der Grammatikographie
Résumé
This historiographical contribution deals with the theoretical approaches to - modernly speaking - situation deixis in German-language grammars from the period 1750-1850. For the topic, this period is interesting in two respects, because on the one hand, the basic texts for modern school grammar emerge at this time, and on the other hand, a significant reorientation in the analysis of "exophoric" deictics referring to the communication situation can be observed. This refers to expressions whose referents can only be identified in relation to the actual, possibly fictitious speech situation - involved interlocutors, local-temporal setting. On the expression side, due to the corpus under investigation, the focus of the study is on personal pronouns, adjectives and adverbs.
In addition to the historico-scientific perspective, it will also be questioned here whether prevailing historiographically oriented accounts of grammatical writing do justice to the approaches actually developed during this period of investigation.
